What people say about ‘How To Play The Piano....Beautifully!’

‘When I tell my friends about the teaching style of my piano tutor, they tell me how lucky I am. Shelley is undoubtedly an accomplished, inspiring and patient piano tutor. Shelley has composed the music we learn and introduces each new song with an anecdote, bringing each piece to life. I find that her teaching of musical theory enhances the practical lesson and provides an insight into the historical context of piano. I was a beginner to piano and find it very challenging at times. In spite of this, I look forward to each lesson. I am delighted that my musical abilities are improving through Shelleys encouragement.’

Rebecca Hilton

‘I’ve really enjoyed learning the piano as it is such an amazing skill to have and it’s such a beautiful instrument in the way it sounds - I find myself swaying along as I play! I look forward to lessons as I know I am going to improve on something that I enjoy!’

Flo Blair

‘Shelley has devised her own method of teaching the piano basics which has been tried and tested over many years. From little old me, who has never played the piano...I can honestly say I am astounded at how quickly I picked it up and at the amount of joy and excitement I feel at being able to ACTUALLY play.’

Jacq Hardwick

Hi, I'm Shelley!

I have been playing the piano for as long as I can remember and I still love it!

As a teenager I won a place at a specialist music school and then trained with some of the most amazing piano teachers in the UK at the Royal College of Music in London. I have played professionally in a piano trio, for a ballet company, played recitals and concertos all over the UK and abroad alongside being a dedicated teacher and performance coach.

I love the psychology of performing music and helping students to enjoy performing more. Playing music in public can bring out so many fears, but where would the world be without music. It is my mission to unlock all the gorgeous creativity inside and inspire my students to share it with the people around them!

I have also written loads of music and am a published composer.

Playing the piano is such a special thing - it is a real mix of physical control, brain power and knowledge, with a splash of that special something, your unique spirit infused into the music you play.

I have written this course for adults starting out on their musical journeys.

I got bored with the “printed piano tutors” in the market and realised that adults need a more mature approach and want to be able to play hands-together from the beginning, making magical sounds with the pedal and learning about chords and improvisation.

So, I devised a course which included all these things without sacrificing a really sound musical education.
