Welcome!
Welcome to the course! I hope that this will be the start of a fantastic relationship with playing the piano and that you will love playing! I really want you to feel that you have been supported through this course ‘How To Play The Piano....Beautifully’ for ongoing tip and inspiration! Be patient with yourself as you go through the lessons. Give yourself a real chance to play each piece with expression and flow and make each piece a part of your piano repertoire which you can sit down to play from memory. Always listen to the demo of each piece before you start to work on it. Research has shown that if you listen first and know what you are aiming at you get there more quickly! The ‘In Theory...’ sections will give you real musical knowledge about your pieces so watch them until you really understand the musical information. Always print off the sheet music in each lesson for the piece that you are learning and leave it on the music stand of your piano. There is nothing that puts me off practicing more than having to find the music! Make it easy for yourself and just leave it there!
The student videos are yours to watch and follow and play through as if you were having your own lesson - so feel free to stop and try things out, put your hands in position and try out whatever I am asking the student in the video to do. Be patient with yourself! Frustration will appear - it does with us all. Just give yourself as long as you need to ‘reset’ - get a coffee, take some slow breaths, come back to it later - it will all sink in and it will be great to see yourself get more confident!
